Led Zeppelin Knebworth Festival, August 1979

Universally known as one of the most innovative, powerful, and influential rock bands in rock history, Led Zeppelin has sold over 200 million albums worldwide. While they are most recognized for their brilliant work in the studio, Led Zeppelin's performances onstage was brilliant and transforming. In concert, the band displayed a power and charisma unlike no other force in modern music. Never satisfied to just simply replay their studio recordings, Zeppelin used the stage as a creative platform in its own right, constantly introducing new material live before it was even recorded, and always expanding, improvising, and pushing into uncharted territory. Their legendary live concert performances would often lasting more than three hours giving concert goers more then they had bargained for. In 1979 they performed at England's Knebworth Festival, and brought the audience to its feet. Less than a year later the tragic death of drummer John Bonham brought a sudden end to the bands reign.
