After The Yardbirds broke up, Led Zeppelin continued to play White Summer at many of their concerts during the early 1970’s. The music was inspired by Jimmy Page's Celtic ancestry. “Over the Hills” one of the few Led Zeppelin songs released as a single in the US. The song originally began as an Instrumental, until Robert Plant came up with backing tracks and lyrics. Plant's lyric s was inspired by the J.R.R. Tolkien book The Hobbit. The title refers to the adventure the Hobbits embark on. There are many other Tolkien references in other Led Zeppelin lyrics. The title of the song may have been inspired by an old English song called "Over The Hills And Far Away" that dates back to the 18th century (It appears in John Gay's play The Beggar's Opera). The first 1/3rd of the song features a country folk style acoustic guitar along with Plants opening lyrics. However, you can hear an acoustic guitar playing throughout the entire song even after the entire band joins in when the verses begin.oh Maybe- more than enough
